An File

Is beár nua-oscailte é An File, lonnaithe ar an Ochtagán i gCathair na Mart. Déanann an File ceiliúradh ar an bhfile aitheanta as Maigh Eo, Antoine Ó Raifteirí, a rugadh sa bhliain 1784. Ba fhile dall agus fidléir é Ó Raifteirí, a chaith blianta ag taisteal fud fad iarthar na hÉireann ag seinm ceoil, ag canadh amhrán agus ag aithris filíochta. Scríobh sé ceann de na dánta is aitheanta as Maigh Eo, Cill Aodáin - ‘Anois teacht an earraigh, beidh an lá dul chun síneadh, is tar éis na Féile Bríde, ardóidh mé mo sheol’. Le hainm branda Gaeilge, tá an Ghaeilge le feiceáil ar an mbiachlár sa bheár freisin.

An File is a recently opened bar, situated on The Octagon in Westport. An File celebrates Mayo’s best known poet, Antoine Raifteirí (Raftery) who was born in 1784. The blind poet and fiddle player wandered the west of Ireland, playing tunes, singing songs and reciting poetry. He wrote one of Mayo’s best known poems and songs, Cill Aodáin – ‘Anois teacht an earraigh, beidh an lá dul chun síneadh, is tar éis na Féile Bríde, ardóidh mé mo sheol’. With an Irish brand name, an File also has Irish headings on its bar menu.
